See product code HW1 for hollow wall anchors for cubes and dekorcubes and the larger HW3 for floating shelves.
These smaller diameter HW2SIL anchors are ideal for our beveled edge floating shelf bracket fixing and need to be crimped in the wall before they are used to support a load. This is done by tightening the screw provided with the wall anchor which then collapses and crimps (“sets”) behind the gyprock sheet as featured in one of the detail shots shown here. Note a special time saving crimping tool is available if many anchors are being fitted.
Drill a 6-7mm hole in the gyprock sheet, remove the screw from the anchor body, and tap the fixing in with a hammer. Fixing must be a nice tight fit so it does not spin when tightening the screw. Insert the screw and tighten to collapse (set) the fixing behind the wall. When fully tightened the screw is removed and the shelf bracket, is then attached with the screw into the set fixing(s). Note when using these fixings, weight capacity is limited to the actual strength of the gyprock sheet. Using multiple fixings can increase the weight capacity of the shelf or shelf brackets.
